Position Overview:
This Civil CAD Designer will perform wide-ranging engineering, drafting and design functions to keep the company at the leading edge of the industry. The successful candidate will use their knowledge, skills, and creativity to prepare civil projects that include but, are not limited to: the construction of roads, structures, flood control projects, sanitation, storm water facilities, recreational facilities, land development, residential subdivisions, site planning, grading, drainage, erosion control, and other engineering projects such as transportation planning, traffic control of highways, and other more. Essential Duties:
Overall
- Generate drawings according the specifications provided by senior designers, engineers, and our clients
- Render two- and three-dimensional drawings using AutoCAD/Civil 3D
- Ensure timely completion of all assigned projects, tasks, and milestones within budgets
- Incorporate changes, or modifications according to the suggestions of the designer, engineer and/or client
- Maintain updated status of each project using project management systems/software
- Provide clear communication to the client, peers, and management that is factual and timely
- Create detailed visual representations to be used for approvals
- Prepare detailed, high-quality construction documents
- Maintain a CAD drawing library and digital files
- Attend planning and zoning meetings for assigned projects as directed by management
Qualifications/Experience:
Required:
- Technical degree in drafting, engineering or architectural technology, construction and 2-3 years’ experience at Civil Engineering, Site Planning, Grading and Drainage, Sanitary, Erosion Control and Land Development
Or
- 5-6 years’ experience without a degree
- Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Ability to read maps and surveys
- Able to work effectively as part of a team or as an individual contributor
- Must be able to handle multiple projects and reports simultaneously
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving aptitude and analytical abilities
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Advanced computer skills with fluency in: Microsoft Office Suite
- High-drive, energetic, positive, strong personal initiative, and sense of urgency / Growth-mindset personality
- Superior internal and external communication skills with a demonstrated ability to break down and relay complex issues, effective presentation of numeric data, and the ability to connect with individuals at all levels of the organization
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management
- Knowledge of local and state building codes and regulations
- Prior management/leadership skills with the ability to navigate complex interpersonal relationships
