ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES:
1. Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
2. Oversees the production of periodic financial report; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
3. Maintains the general ledger.
4. Sets up new accounts, reconciles balance sheet accounts monthly, and assist in closing the monthly books.
5. Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits and cancelled checks.
6. Performs end of month job analysis and allocation journal entry
7. Assists to gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
8. Files required tax forms with government agencies.
9. Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
10. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
11. Support payroll processes when needed.
12. Records weekly payroll journal entries.
13. Provide accounting staff support and guidance in resolving operation challenges.
14. Responsible for the oversight of accounts receivable including billing, collection, application of payments and write-off of receivable accounts.
15. Oversee reconciliation related to A/R such as accounts receivable, deferred revenue, unapplied cash, etc.
16. Coordinates and reviews customer contracts from bid process to acceptance of contract. Prepares bids from estimating department and ensures customer receives.
17. Sets up job specifications to ensure awarded contract compliance.
18. Maintains and tracks fixed assets.
19. Coordinates quarterly safety meetings with staff.
20. Maintains fleet mileage logs for DOT yearly filing, coordinating with the Fleet Manager.
21. Assists in tracking of weekly ToolBox meetings and maintains spreadsheet for compliance.
22. Other duties as may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of accounting standards, conventions, principles and mathematic properties
- Ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge in all aspects of accounting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience with accounting software, Sage 100 preferred or similar construction accounting software
- Strong analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently as a team member with minimal supervision
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (preferred)
- At least two (2) years of accounting experience (required), in construction (preferred)
