Position Summary:

The Lighting Repair Technician is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining all lighting hardware. Ability and skillset to troubleshoot electrical issues, replace lamps and components, and ensure lighting systems are functioning properly, safely and at their maximum potential.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly inspect lighting consoles, fixtures, lamps, cables, and other components for damage, wear, or malfunction.
  • Troubleshoot and repair lighting fixtures that are not working properly. Replace lamps, ballasts, and other components as needed.
  • Quality Control: Conduct routine testing cleaning and maintenance of lighting equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues related to lighting fixtures, such as wiring problems or circuit failures.
  • Documenting Work in FLEX (inventory management software): Maintain accurate records of repairs, installations, and maintenance activities for future reference.
  • Manage all lighting RMAs (Return Merchandise Authorization) with manufacturers, parts sourcing & purchase orders needed for repairs
  • Report directly to the lighting department lead and work closely with other technicians and warehouse staff to coordinate lighting repair and maintenance schedules.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines when working with electrical equipment and lighting fixtures.
  • Maintaining equipment firmware and software to manufacturers latest versions.
  • Maintain a parts inventory
  • Maintaining a clean and organized area

 

Qualification and Experience:

  • Expert knowledge of event lighting equipment and ability to repair
  • Control console repair – 2 years preferred experience
  • Circuit board repair – 2 years preferred experience
  • Soldering & de-soldering circuit board hardware
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic; mechanical equipment
  • A problem solver, detail oriented & ability to respect and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions, follow procedures, and maintain accurate records.
  • Certifications from industry manufacturers for repair of moving lights and consoles (preferred)
  • College degree related to electronics repair (preferred)
  • Experience working with Inventory management software (preferred platform – Flex Rental Solutions)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful, high-pressure situations
  • Physical Demands: Will frequently lift and move 50–100 lbs.
