Position Summary:
The AV CAD Drafter shall utilize AutoCAD and Vectorworks (knowledge needed in both) to document and communicate AV, broadcast, and IT system design intent and overall connectivity. They will collaborate closely with our engineering team to aid in transforming a vision into a drawing set for installation and client reference. In addition, the AV CAD Drafter shall be an internal resource and coordinator for CAD best practices and standards and will maintain the internal block database. The AV CAD Drafter must have a strong interest in technology, and understanding of the different connectors, signal types, and workflows in broadcast and AV systems.

General Tasks/Duties:
• Creating Technical Drawings: Develop detailed technical drawings and plans for A/V installations utilizing both Vectorworks and AutoCAD software.
• Design Development: Collaborate with project managers and designers to develop and refine A/V system.
• Equipment Layouts: Create equipment layouts for various venues, ensuring optimal placement and accessibility.
• Schematic Design: Produce schematic designs for signal flow, power distribution, and network cabling
• 3D Modeling: Generate 3D models of A/V equipment and installation environments for visualization and planning purposes using Vectorworks and AutoCAD.
• Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys and incorporate findings into drawings to ensure accuracy and feasibility.
• Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for all stages of the project, including initial concepts, final designs, and as-built drawings in both software platforms. 2
• Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet technical specifications and client requirements, regardless of the software used.
• Material Lists: Create and update material lists, including specifications for all A/V equipment and components.
• Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations, whether produced in Vectorworks or AutoCAD.
• Revisions and Updates: Make revisions and updates to drawings as necessary based on feedback and changes
• Project Coordination: Coordinate with installation teams to ensure designs are implemented accurately and efficiently
• Visualization and Rendering: Produce high-quality renderings and visualizations to aid in client presentations and approvals using both Vectorworks and AutoCAD.
• Quality Control: Perform quality control checks on drawings and designs to ensure accuracy and completeness before submission, regardless of the drafting software used.

Qualification and Experience

• Education:
o Associate’s degree in architectural Drafting, Engineering, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree or higher education is always welcome.

• Certifications:
o Professional certification in CAD software such as AutoCAD Certified Professional preferred.
o Vectorworks Certification.
o CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification also preferred

• Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in Vectorworks and AutoCAD is needed, including both 2D and 3D capabilities.
o Advanced knowledge of drafting standards and practices specific to the A/V install industry.
o Expertise in creating and interpreting complex schematic diagrams, including signal flow and power distribution.

• Software Proficiency:
o Experience with additional design software such as Revit, or similar platforms is preferred
o Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) for rendering and presentation purposes.
o Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes and software.
• Industry Knowledge:
o In-depth understanding of A/V systems, components, and installation best practices.
o Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes, such as NEC (National Electrical Code), AVIXA standards, and building codes.

• Professional Experience:

o Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in drafting/design within the A/V install industry.
o Proven track record of managing and executing complex A/V design projects from concept to completion.

• Project Management:
o Experience in leading design teams and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and installation crews.
o Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and quality control.

• Communication Skills:

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in client-facing roles.
o Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors.

• Problem-Solving Skills:
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to resolving design challenges.
o Ability to adapt and innovate within the design process to meet unique project requirements.

o Exceptional attention to detail and precision in creating technical drawings and documentation.

Schedule / Hours of Work
• Position is based and operated out of Las Vegas NV. Corporate office
• Variable; Weekday is normal business hours from 8a to 5p with a lunch break from 12p to 1p; Weekends are scheduled on an as needed basis
• Occasional evening work
• Travel: Less than 10% annually

Compensation / Benefits
• Salary range: $65,000 – $75,000 (DOE), submissions must have salary requirements included.
• Benefits include:
o Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage for all full-time employees and their family. The Company currently subsidizes 50% of the employee’s health premium. The employee is responsible for all other premiums.
o 401(k) and 401(k) matching – currently 5%
