Job Summary:
The Junior BIM Operator is responsible for assisting in the creation, management, and delivery of digital building models. Working with a multidisciplinary team, the Junior BIM Operator will ensure that accurate 3D representations are maintained, updated, and aligned with project standards and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- BIM Model Creation: Assist in the development and maintenance of BIM models for various phases of a project using software like Revit, Navisworks, or other BIM platforms.
- Model Coordination: Work with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design intent and information are accurately represented in BIM models.
- Clash Detection: Support the coordination process by running clash detection in software such as Navisworks, identifying conflicts in design before construction begins.
- Updating Models: Regularly update models based on feedback from site inspections, design changes, or new information from senior team members.
- Documentation: Assist in generating 2D drawings, schedules, and documentation from 3D BIM models for use in construction and facility management.
- Quality Control: Follow established BIM standards, protocols, and quality control procedures to ensure models are accurate, consistent, and usable.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior BIM specialists, engineers, and project managers to ensure that all elements of the design and construction process are integrated and coordinated.
- Data Management: Assist with managing BIM data, ensuring that information is shared correctly within the project teams.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in BIM-related software, particularly Autodesk Revit and Navisworks. Familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, or other modeling tools is a plus.
- Experience: 0-2 years of experience working with BIM in a professional or academic setting. Experience with construction documents and drafting is beneficial.
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction, engineering, and architectural design principles.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate and precise work.
- Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment.
- Problem-Solving: Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project needs and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Autodesk Revit or other relevant BIM software.
- Experience with clash detection tools like Navisworks or Solibri.
- Familiarity with construction site workflows and processes.
