General Job Description

This position is responsible for independently delivering structural engineering services from conceptual design through construction completion with some oversight. The role requires managing multiple projects simultaneously and coordinating effectively across teams to ensure quality and schedule adherence.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning, coordination, and execution with minimal supervision.

  • Independently complete conceptual designs and construction drawings for large, complex projects or multiple smaller projects.

  • Engage engineering applications or managers appropriately in project decisions.

  • Proactively communicate and coordinate project designs with Project Management, Construction, Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners.

  • Provide field engineering support including project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, documentation, troubleshooting, and problem solving.

  • Manage time effectively to meet project schedules and deadlines.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of engineering standards and project execution processes.

  • Perform equipment anchorage and vibration isolation calculations with PE wet-stamped installation packages and bills of materials (BOM).

  • Design rooftop and riser duct and pipe supports with PE stamped installation packages and BOM.

  • Conduct seismic restraint calculations for duct and pipe systems.

  • Verify roof structures for existing equipment replacements.

  • Design structural equipment skids and supplemental steel for supports and bracing, including BOM.

  • Develop templates and standard designs to increase cost-effectiveness and installation efficiency.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

  • 3+ years of experience with a structural engineering or seismic bracing firm.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license highly desirable, but not required at hire. Must be obtained within a short period.

  • Excellent knowledge of engineering and design fundamentals, building codes, and industry standards.

  • Strong understanding of seismic bracing, attachment, and supplemental support design.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar drafting software preferred.

  • Experience with 3D modeling software to create design and installation packages preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight and collaboratively within teams.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs regularly and up to 20 lbs occasionally.

  • Requires close and distance vision and the ability to hear phone conversations.

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.

  • Responsible and consistent attendance is required.


Work Hours

  • Monday through Friday, with start times generally between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM, and end times between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM.

  • Includes a one-hour lunch and two paid rest breaks.

  • Occasional overtime may be required depending on business needs.
