Position Summary
A dynamic and experienced Controller is sought to lead the financial operations of a growing, professional services firm. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Controller will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls. This individual will be a key partner to the CFO, CEO, and COO, playing a vital role in financial planning, risk management, and strategic decision-making.
Core Responsibilities

Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

Oversee financial reporting, including profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, and AR aging.

Monitor and analyze firm-wide financial performance and recommend improvements.

Manage cash flow, coordinating collections with project managers and payments with purchasing.

Supervise accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.

Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local compliance regulations and internal controls.

Support internal and external audits, ensuring audit preparedness and accurate documentation.

Advance the use and effectiveness of Deltek Vision/VantagePoint through optimization and training.

Approve credit applications, purchase orders, expense reports, and financial adjustments.

Coordinate contracts, change orders, insurance certificates, and subcontract documentation.

Analyze financial variances and provide strategic guidance based on data.

Lead and mentor an accounting team of 10+, including AP Specialists and the Revenue Manager.

Develop, implement, and strengthen financial processes, controls, and reporting standards.

Serve as a key resource in cross-functional initiatives and special projects.

Communicate financial metrics and insights to executive leadership.
Ideal Candidate Profile

5–7+ years of experience in a Controller or Finance Director role.

Strong background in corporate accounting, GAAP compliance, financial reporting, and controls.

Proven experience in a professional services environment is highly preferred.

Hands-on experience with Deltek Vision or VantagePoint is a major plus.

Highly analytical with the ability to translate data into actionable business insights.

Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and financial management systems.

Exceptional leadership and team management skills.

Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required.

CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.

Master’s degree is a plus.
