Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with specialized expertise in HVAC system design to lead mechanical engineering efforts across a variety of commercial and institutional projects. This role involves end-to-end involvement in system design, equipment selection, and quality assurance, all while adhering to project budgets, timelines, and technical requirements. The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled engineer with strong problem-solving abilities, a collaborative mindset, and a drive to deliver innovative, code-compliant solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Design & Technical Oversight

  • Develop mechanical system designs from concept through construction documentation.

  • Perform HVAC load calculations and system sizing based on project requirements and applicable codes (e.g., Title 24, ASHRAE).

  • Select and specify HVAC equipment and components tailored to project performance goals.

Documentation & Coordination

  • Produce and manage detailed design drawings, specifications, and mechanical documentation.

  • Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project design intent.

  • Provide prompt, accurate responses to RFIs and field inquiries.

  • Ensure coordination across disciplines and alignment with architectural and structural designs.

Quality Control & Problem Solving

  • Conduct system performance evaluations, including testing and troubleshooting.

  • Implement quality assurance and control procedures to meet industry and regulatory standards.

  • Address design and construction issues proactively and collaboratively.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients.

  • Support project reviews, updates, and client presentations.

  • Mentor junior engineers and designers when applicable.

  • Report project progress to internal leadership and stakeholders.

Professional Development

  • Stay updated on current industry standards, technologies, and best practices.

  • Integrate sustainable design principles and energy-efficient systems where applicable.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a strong HVAC focus.

  • PE License highly desirable (or in active pursuit).

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC codes, Title 24, and energy compliance standards.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and related design software.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
