Position Summary
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with specialized expertise in HVAC system design to lead mechanical engineering efforts across a variety of commercial and institutional projects. This role involves end-to-end involvement in system design, equipment selection, and quality assurance, all while adhering to project budgets, timelines, and technical requirements. Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Oversight

Develop mechanical system designs from concept through construction documentation.

Perform HVAC load calculations and system sizing based on project requirements and applicable codes (e.g., Title 24, ASHRAE).

Select and specify HVAC equipment and components tailored to project performance goals.
Documentation & Coordination

Produce and manage detailed design drawings, specifications, and mechanical documentation.

Review submittals and shop drawings for compliance with project design intent.

Provide prompt, accurate responses to RFIs and field inquiries.

Ensure coordination across disciplines and alignment with architectural and structural designs.
Quality Control & Problem Solving

Conduct system performance evaluations, including testing and troubleshooting.

Implement quality assurance and control procedures to meet industry and regulatory standards.

Address design and construction issues proactively and collaboratively.
Collaboration & Communication

Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, project managers, contractors, and clients.

Support project reviews, updates, and client presentations.

Mentor junior engineers and designers when applicable.

Report project progress to internal leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

8+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a strong HVAC focus.

PE License highly desirable (or in active pursuit).

Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC codes, Title 24, and energy compliance standards.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and related design software.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
