Job Description

SUMMARY:  The position of the Purchasing Buyer has been established to enhance the profitability of the business by providing purchasing activities necessary to ensure the timely delivery of specified materials and services for Electrical jobs at competitive pricing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide electrical material, products, equipment knowledge and guidance throughout the organization to maximize supply chain and field efficiencies.
  • Maintain the purchasing process by receiving, preparing, verifying, filing, and forwarding purchase orders.
  • Search inventory records and/or warehouse to determine if material on hand will fulfill quantity required.
  • Consult with suppliers concerning late delivers.  Verify and approve supplier bills for payment.
  • Provide purchasing activities to meet the needs of operations, including all company requirements needed.  Purchase materials and construction supplies within the budget guidelines, negotiate pricing levels, services and terms.
  • Receive material estimates and coordinate with the Procurement/Asset Manager for approval.  Purchase electrical materials from distributors.
  • Provide Variance Alerts to Management when applicable.
  • Provide submittals as required by contract and directed by Project Managers.
  • Review job specifications and copy the appropriate submittal documents from purchasing files and vendor catalogs.  Generate a master submittal list for each job and, upon submittal approval.
  • Review suppliers, credits to ensure there have been no excessive restocking fees and coordinate with the Procurement/Asset Manager for approval.

EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE:  High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Three to five years experience in the electrical distribution, purchasing.
