SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Prepares design development and construction documents with guidance from Design Manager or Director, Design Services.  Works independently on design projects.  Experienced draftsperson that performs non-routine and complex drafting assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques.  Prepares presentation and design drawings and details.  Performs more complex projects than Designer I – III.  Provide drawings, details, and technical data in an accelerated and cost-effective manner.  Ensure the project conforms to regulatory codes and design correctness.  Create, self-check, manage and coordinate complete sets of construction drawings and provide technical support to all parties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION (To include, but not limited to):

  • Plan and manage multiple projects, drawings, and details within assigned time frames
  • Provide and coordinate construction documents for sold projects
  • Study, research and interpret design criteria per local, national, and international jurisdiction
  • Aid in code analysis, including energy code and ADA compliance
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, architects, engineers and government agencies to confirm design accuracy
  • Assist Project Managers with permitting, design issues and overall project correctness
  • Provide creative design, graphic art and renderings for proposal packages
  • Review drawings for accuracy and quality before they leave the Design Department
  • Research easements, rights-of-way, addresses, lot sizes and drainage
  • Provide and coordinate record drawings for sold projects
  • Assist in training of Designer I – III and Drafter I – III
  • Review, redline and return documents to consultants and trades (building manufacturers) in an accelerated timelines
  • Tour future and existing job site for education and value design input
  • Provide verbal and written communication and coordination with all parties involved
  • Coordinate projects with program management, estimators, sales and project managers as necessary
  • Monitor drawing libraries and implementation procedures for time effectiveness
  • Participate and cooperate with every department while enthusiastically advocating teamwork
  • Clarify communications and process information received
  • Perform other duties as assigned


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A degree in design engineering or a similar discipline, (such as civil, mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering)
    • 4-7 years Computer Aided Design experience
  • Strong computer skills including but not limited to:  Revit, AutoCAD, Windows, Outlook, Excel, MS Word, BIM360, and Blue Beam
  • Well versed in scheduling and MS Project and Procore is strongly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and practical application of regulatory codes, including Energy and ADA
  • Ability to multi-task between several projects concurrently in a timely and professional manner
  • Confidentiality required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • English – able to communicate well using both technical and non-technical language, read and understand thoroughly
  • Experience with CPG, construction, and manufacturing industries
  • Willingness to travel via air and/or ground, often on short notice; includes overnight and extended stays
  • Ability to work with co-workers, clients, subcontractors and vendors in a professional manner
  • Ability to both take direction and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work extended workdays and workweeks as needed to accomplish the job
  • Maintain a regular and dependable level of attendance

  • Able to navigate work sites and office facilities
  • Bending/stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulders, kneeling and twisting
  • Ascending/descending stairs
  • Ascending to and descending from heights up to or over 100′ by use of permanent or temporary stairs, ladders, aerial lifts or use of personnel hoists
  • Some lifting of various weights and sizes (up to 30 lbs.)
    • May involve lifting above shoulders
  • Vision abilities include close and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • Repetitive motion (to include, but not limited to): standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, working at a computer and typing for long periods of time
  • Wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, work boots. gloves, etc.)
