Position Overview

An engineering consulting firm is seeking a licensed Associate Structural Engineer to support commercial and industrial building projects with a focus on structural analysis, evaluations, assessments, and repair design.

This role is responsible for reviewing construction documents, evaluating existing structures, preparing technical reports and repair recommendations, and collaborating with clients, consultants, and internal project teams throughout all phases of a project. The position includes both office and field responsibilities, with travel to project sites as needed.

Projects may include office buildings, industrial facilities, hospitality developments, parking structures, retail centers, and high-rise multifamily construction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
  • Perform structural and property condition assessments
  • Identify root causes of structural issues and develop repair recommendations
  • Prepare repair documents, drawings, and technical details
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams
  • Prepare formal engineering reports and project documentation
  • Serve as a technical team member and lead smaller projects
  • Conduct site visits and field observations as required
  • Support structural evaluations, retrofits, and repair projects
  • Ensure technical accuracy, code compliance, and quality standards are maintained

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required
  • Minimum 5 years of structural engineering or consulting experience
  • Strong understanding of commercial building systems, construction methods, and building codes
  • Experience with structural evaluations, repair design, and retrofit projects
  • Knowledge of seismic lateral force-resisting systems preferred
  • Experience with parking garage evaluations and repairs preferred
  • Familiarity with ASCE 41 seismic evaluations preferred
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work in fast-paced project environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, and related design/documentation software
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed
