Position Overview

A lighting controls and electrical systems company is seeking a Control Technician to support field installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and programming of lighting control systems.

This role is heavily field-based and involves working directly with electrical contractors, customers, and project teams to ensure lighting control systems are installed, wired, programmed, and functioning properly. The position includes site visits, field support, commissioning services, troubleshooting, and customer interaction throughout various stages of construction and system startup.

The ideal candidate will have experience with both line voltage and low voltage systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a background in electrical contracting, controls, or related field work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct site visits, preconstruction meetings, and commissioning activities
  • Work directly with electrical contractors and customers in the field
  • Verify proper installation and wiring of lighting control systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve field issues related to controls and electrical systems
  • Program and commission lighting control systems
  • Provide field support during installation and startup phases
  • Communicate with customers and contractors via phone, email, and onsite meetings
  • Travel for project work and training as required
  • Support team members and assist with additional project responsibilities as needed
  • Maintain strong customer service and professional communication standards

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Background in electrical contracting, lighting controls, electrical systems, or related field work
  • Strong understanding of line voltage and low voltage systems
  • Experience with controls programming or commissioning preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with computer software and electronic systems
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and proof of insurance required

Work Environment & Travel

  • Approximately 60–70% field-based work
  • Frequent jobsite visits and customer interaction
  • Ability to work in unfinished construction environments and varying site conditions
  • Travel may include both local and out-of-state assignments for training and project support
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout active jobsites as needed
