Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Associate MEP Engineer to join a national architecture, engineering, and construction consulting team. This position plays a key role in driving innovation across diverse commercial and institutional projects while providing expert evaluation and design oversight of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

This is a hybrid role based in Atlanta or Dallas (2 days per week in-office). For exceptional candidates with directly related experience, a remote option is available in Orlando or Miami.


Essential Functions

Leverage your engineering expertise and passion for building systems to:

  • Collaborate with architectural and engineering professionals to conduct Property Condition Assessments (PCAs) and Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs).

  • Assist clients with capital planning, operations, and maintenance cost forecasting.

  • Perform peer reviews of building designs for technical accuracy, code compliance, and performance efficiency.

  • Conduct energy audits, system commissioning, forensic evaluations, construction management, and MEP system assessments (HVAC, electrical, and plumbing).

  • Interact directly with clients, owners, and site personnel to provide technical expertise and recommendations.

  • Participate in a wide range of commercial, institutional, and industrial projects, offering diverse challenges and meaningful impact.

  • Travel to project sites as required (approximately 25–50%, including out-of-state travel).


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering (BSME, BSEE, or BSAE with mechanical or electrical specialty).

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

  • 10+ years of professional experience in the engineering design, commissioning, or evaluation of building MEP systems.

  • Demonstrated success in project management and technical leadership.

  • Strong expertise in HVAC and plumbing systems, with a working knowledge of electrical systems and energy conservation principles.

  • Understanding of national and state building codes, energy standards, and sustainability practices.

  • Experience in facilities engineering, commissioning, and energy audits preferred.

  • LEED or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) accreditation a plus.

  • Ability to integrate sustainability and energy efficiency strategies into client solutions.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, PlanGrid, and Box.

  • A collaborative professional mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and innovation in MEP engineering.


Physical Requirements

Candidates should have the ability to:

  • Operate a computer and general office equipment (calculator, copier/scanner/printer).

  • Maintain visual acuity to read plans, specifications, and digital documents.

  • Move through construction and existing facilities, including over uneven terrain or within confined spaces.

  • Ascend and descend ladders or stairs and respond to auditory or visual cues in active construction environments.

  • Work outdoors and in unconditioned spaces when required.

  • Travel 25–50% of the time for site evaluations and client meetings.
