Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled MEP Project Manager to oversee the mechanical, electrical, and piping (MEP) scopes of large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in at least one of the major trades—mechanical, piping, or electrical—and the ability to manage all aspects of design coordination, procurement, subcontract administration, cost control, and field execution for MEP systems.

This role requires a proactive leader capable of collaborating with design teams, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure project success from design through construction closeout.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Preconstruction

  • Review and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, and technical manuals to determine feasibility and alignment with project requirements.

  • Participate in estimating processes for MEP portions of new projects, ensuring accurate scope and cost coverage.

  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals to verify compliance with design intent, specifications, and performance criteria.

  • Assist in contract negotiations with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring clear scope definition and division of responsibilities.

  • Review subcontractor construction documents and submittals to confirm scope compliance.

  • Participate in subcontract awards and ensure alignment between design, cost, and schedule expectations.

Project Execution & Administration

  • Coordinate design and engineering efforts across MEP trades to ensure seamless integration with overall project objectives.

  • Monitor and report on project financial performance, maintaining control over budgets, cost projections, and invoicing.

  • Oversee subcontract and contract administration, including change management and schedule alignment.

  • Develop and maintain job progress schedules for MEP activities to ensure construction milestones are met.

  • Conduct field inspections and ensure that MEP installations conform to project requirements, specifications, and quality standards.

  • Manage procurement and delivery of all MEP materials and equipment, ensuring optimal pricing, quality, and timely delivery.

  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor payment applications, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contract terms.

  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and construction management teams to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.

Site Oversight & Quality Control

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, verify installation quality, and ensure safety compliance.

  • Provide technical oversight and resolve field issues as needed during MEP installation and commissioning phases.

  • Support the Project Manager in verifying monthly financial and progress reports related to MEP work.

  • Review and approve shop drawings and submittals to confirm adherence to project scope and standards.

  • Enforce compliance with the company’s safety program and ensure safety practices are implemented and followed on site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience managing MEP scopes on large-scale commercial or industrial projects.

  • Strong technical background in mechanical, piping, or electrical systems (knowledge of multiple disciplines preferred).

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, scheduling software, and engineering applications for load calculations and cost analysis.

  • Skilled in reading and interpreting complex construction documents, drawings, and technical specifications.

  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills with the ability to make informed decisions in fast-paced environments.

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with a track record of collaboration and team mentorship.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform hands-on site work as required.

  • Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 lbs.

  • May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, moving machinery, elevated work areas, and moderate to loud noise levels during site visits.

  • Overtime or extended travel may be required based on project schedules.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct oversight of on-site and contract drafting personnel (CAD) and assigned administrative support staff related to MEP operations.
