Position Overview

A leading electrical contracting firm is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team in Tustin, California. The Purchasing Agent will play a critical role in sourcing, negotiating, and procuring electrical materials and equipment for commercial, institutional, and public construction projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong vendor management skills, a deep understanding of construction materials and pricing, and the ability to balance cost-efficiency with quality and reliability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Source, purchase, and expedite delivery of electrical materials, equipment, and tools for multiple ongoing projects.

  • Review project drawings, take-offs, and specifications to identify material requirements.

  • Obtain and evaluate vendor quotes, ensuring best pricing and delivery schedules.

  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers while maintaining positive, long-term vendor relationships.

  • Coordinate with project managers, estimators, and field teams to forecast material needs and prevent shortages or delays.

  • Maintain accurate purchase orders, tracking information, and material cost data in internal systems.

  • Monitor inventory levels and support warehouse operations to maintain adequate stock.

  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, job specifications, and safety standards.

  • Research and recommend new suppliers or alternative materials to improve value and performance.

  • Assist accounting and project management teams with invoice reconciliation and cost tracking.


Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of purchasing experience in the electrical contracting or construction industry required.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical materials, suppliers, and market pricing.

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with both vendors and internal stakeholders.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with construction management or ERP software preferred.

  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented culture.


Compensation & Benefits
